How Designers Think- The Design Process Demystified?

Reasoning is considered purposive and directed towards a particular  conclusion. Logic, problem-solving and concept formation. Imagining, the individual is said to draw from his or her own experience, combining material in a relatively unstructured and perhaps aimless way. Artistic and creative thought as well as daydreaming. The combination and the control of reasoning and imagining is one of the designer’s most important skills. (Lawson 1997)

What indeed is creative reasoning? This book has made me question if there is such a thing and start to think about what my own design process looks like.

Students of the Square Table

I think that our first ‘eat and greet’ was a success and that we got to know each other a bit better. Definitely the first of many. There’s something about food and design that just works!

I really enjoyed working outdoors. Being surrounded by the actual materials that we were working with definitely created a deeper connection. I learnt a lot about different edible and non-edible plants. I didn’t like my final product but I found the whole process intriguing because of its sustainability.

Crotchet bombing

I have quite mixed feelings about the crocheting workshop. For one I found it difficult to constantly remind myself that I was not knitting. I find it quite interesting how the body also has memory.  Working with yarn however is something I have always found relaxing so in the end I decided to merge the two techniques which created quite solid yet flexible structures.
